Some weddings are memorable because of the venue. Some because of the details. And some because you spend half the day double taking the groom’s identical twin.

Amber and Ciaran’s Riddel Hall wedding somehow managed to have all three.

As wedding photographers and videographers, we love the unexpected moments that happen throughout a wedding day, and this one certainly kept us on our toes. Between doing double takes every time the groom’s twin appeared and laughing with one of the most helpful groups of groomsmen we’ve ever worked with, there was never a dull moment.

Those groomsmen deserve a special mention too. Before they’d even had their dinner, they were carrying lights, stands and sandbags around the venue, getting a crash course in what it’s takes to be a wedding videographer. They probably didn’t expect that to be part of the job description, but we appreciated every bit of help.

The morning began with Amber getting ready before slipping into a breathtaking silk gown from Verona Bridal. One of our favourite details was the pair of white gloves her mum had bought to protect the dress while everyone helped her get ready. It’s those thoughtful little touches that often become some of our favourite memories from a wedding day.

Before the celebrations continued at Riddel Hall, we made time for portraits in Botanic Gardens, one of our favourite locations for wedding photography in Belfast. The gardens are only a short distance away and offer a beautiful mix of mature trees, winding pathways and colourful planting that contrasts perfectly with the elegant architecture of Riddel Hall.

Getting there was half the fun too, thanks to a classic convertible Mustang from Star Car Hire, which added a little extra personality to the portraits and made the journey just as memorable as the destination.

Back at Riddel Hall at Queen’s University Belfast, guests enjoyed dinner, heartfelt speeches and an evening packed with dancing. We also have to give a huge thank you to Brian and the team, whose calm organisation and attention to detail kept everything running effortlessly from start to finish. Having a venue team who genuinely care about every couple makes such a difference, and it never goes unnoticed.
