Salwa + Gökmen | Trim Castle

Two families, two cultures and one very happy couple starting the next chapter of their lives.

We had such a lovely day with Salwa and Gökmen at their engagement party at Trim Castle.

She is from Iran, he is from Turkey, and bringing both families and traditions together in Ireland made for a really special celebration. It was one of those days that felt important, but also really full of fun.

Things started with a traditional Turkish pre-engagement coffee ceremony. There was lots of chatting, plenty of smiles and everyone gathering around to watch.

Next came the engagement agreement with the Sheikh. The room went a little quieter, everyone listened closely and it felt like one of those moments where it all suddenly becomes real. We love these parts of the day. Not because anything huge happens, but because you catch all the little reactions. Proud parents, someone squeezing a hand, big smiles across the room.

Then came the blessings from both fathers, which was probably one of our favourite parts of the day. There is something really lovely about seeing two families come together like that. Different backgrounds, different traditions, but all there for the same reason.

Afterwards, we headed outside for photos at Trim Castle. Honestly, what a spot!

One of the things we love about Trim Castle is that it looks incredible without you having to do very much. The castle itself does all the heavy lifting. We just wandered around with Salwa and Gökmen, let them enjoy a few minutes together and grabbed some photographs along the way.

Then it was back inside for dinner and dancing. And this is where the day really turned into a party.

People who had never met before were chatting away like old friends, family members were up dancing together and there was just such a nice atmosphere all evening. You could tell everyone was genuinely happy to be there.

As wedding photographers and videographers, these are the kinds of celebrations we love most. Days that feel personal. Days where traditions are important because they matter to the people involved, not because they are there for show.

Salwa and Gökmen’s engagement party was really just about bringing people together. Two families, two cultures and one very happy couple starting the next chapter of their lives. A pretty good reason for a party if you ask us.
